Three new categories will be awarded for by the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF), at their 2019 Awards ceremony.
The CAF Executive Committee meeting held in Hurghada, Egypt, this week agreed on the decision to introduce three awards categories that will include.
The Africa Interclub Player of the Year, the Best African Club President and a Special recognition award for contributions to society.
The Africa Interclub Player of the Year award will be competed for by the outstanding performers in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup.
The African Club president award will target the administrators and Chief Executive Officers of the various clubs in Africa.
While there will be a Special recognition award which will be awarded to individuals who have done tremendously to promote African football, and will be at the discretion of the CAF Executive Committee.
Meanwhile, earlier in the week Uganda Cranes captain and Mamelodi Sundowns shot stopper Denis Onyango was among the nominees for the CAF Best eleven.
The list includes Liverpool trio Mohammed Salah, Naby Keita and Sadio Mane.
The CAF Awards is an awards gala held to honour the best African football players, and will be held on 7th January 2020 in Cairo.
