366 back to Namboole, Football-256 at One

On 17th November 2018, the first ever article was published on this website. Befitting of the occasion, the Uganda Cranes had just sealed their passage into the 2019 African Cup of Nations.

As the Uganda Cranes mark 366 days since they last played at Namboole, www.football-256.com will also be marking one year in existence and hoping for many more to come.

Patrick Kaddu was the hero of the day, and his goal in the 77th minute saw the Cranes seal back to back qualification for Africa’s biggest football show piece.

As Clive Kyazze scribbled away the historical moment for the Cranes and milestone moment for football-256 started.

Since then, the Cranes have moved places; from Dubai for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations preparations, to Egypt for the finals as they made it out of the group stages before falling to finalists Senegal, 1-0 at the round of 16.

Through the saga that engulfed the team in Egypt, to seeing a new face at the helm of the Cranes – Jonathan McKinstry, all that amidst a local coach Abdallah Mubiru guiding the Cranes to their fifth consecutive CHAN tournament.

Football-256 has been there with the Cranes through the trenches in despair, joy and tribulations. We have covered all that.

The one year journey has not been about the Cranes alone; the team has covered some of the biggest football events in Uganda and on the continent.

We were there for the Nations Cup from start to finish, we have covered the Uganda Premier League extensively and have spread our wings throughout the region, on the continent and even beyond. One thing is certain we can only go up from here.

Our readership has also grown over months, and we want to promise our readers even better and more intriguing content for the future as we keep expanding and spreading our wings to fly even higher than where we are.

They say ‘there is always a first time.’ And as we celebrate our first milestone, we want to celebrate it with you our readers and of course the sportsmen who give us reason to do our work.

Therefore, we initiated the 256 Footballer of the year award; to commemorate the best achievers throughout the year.

The award will be annual, with a select group of journalists drawing up a list of nominees from whom our viewers will make a choice by voting for them over a specified period of time.

We also initiated the Football-256 outreach campaign, as we feel the obligation not only to cover football, but to contribute towards development of the game and the players right from grassroots to the top. We therefore call upon all stakeholders and well wishers, FUFA, Soccer academies as well to join hands and ganner support towards this cause.

The team behind our success, thank you for your undying commitment. We cannot thank you enough. Those who left along the way, you are still part of the family.

To our sponsors and patners Betway, Breeze travel & safaris, Mafro Sports, Mpatanel, Hardware World and Mumark Travels we cannot thank you enough for the support extended towards our growth and we pray upon your continued support.

As we grow, we as well call upon other advertisers to join the team and trust us with their brands.

Aluta continua!
