Preview: Bengo in search of first win when Wakiso host Busoga United

Geofrey Sserunkuma (L) and Abdul Hakim Nduggwa will lead the line for Wakiso in the absence of Ssekajugo and Ssenyonjo | Wakiso Giants media

Wakiso Giants will return to action on Friday 8th with a home tie against Busoga United at the Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium, with high hopes of getting back to winning ways after three successive losses.

The Purple Sharks have lost to Police FC and Express FC, before a change in the technical wing was instituted, with former player Steven  Bengo replacing Kefa Kisala on the interim. Bengo’s appointment did not help matters as he too fell to Vipers in his first game at the club.

Bengo will take charge of his second game, and he hopes his side can finally register a positive result, especially as he goes against a side that have not won in their last two as well.

Wakiso will be without the two key players; leading goalscorer Vianey Ssekajugo and youngster Hassan Ssenyonjo who are part of the Uganda Cranes squad that travels on the same day to North Eastern Uganda for a regional tour. Busoga United will also be without Joel Madondo.

Busoga United head coach Abbey Kikomeko believes they have rectified their mistakes from the last two games and he expects nothing but three points.

“We have rectified our mistakes and we are going to Wakiso for nothing but three points. We are a better side than them and the table standings show this,” Kikomeko told media ahead of the game.

It will be the first time both sides will be meeting in a competitive match. Prior to this tie, Wakiso Giants currently sit in 11th place on 13 points while the visitors are 6th on 16 points.
