FUFA AWARDS: Airtel, NIC bankroll FUFA Awards with 110 Million sponsorship packages

The 2019 Airtel-FUFA awards received a huge boost after two of the awards and FUFA sponsors bankrolled the event to a tune of UGX110 million sponsorship package.

Airtel who are the awards’ title sponsors have injected UGX100 million into the awards, for the second year running.

Speaking during the launch of the Awards on Wednesday at Serena hotel, Airtel Uganda Brand & Communications Director Remmie Kisakye, once again reaffirmed their support in the brand of FUFA and the awards as they ensure the continued development of the game in the country.

“We as Airtel are confident with the brand of FUFA and the progress they have made. As Airtel Uganda, we pride in football development and nurturing. We do not shy away from milestones registered at the national team, and reaffirm our commitment to Uganda’s football.” Said Remmie Kisakye.

On the same note, National Insurance Cooperation (NIC) also announced their package of UGX10 million towards the awards, which was delivered by NIC Holdings Head of Corporate Communications.

“At NIC, we believe in supporting football. This year makes the 11th year when we have partnered with FUFA. We have made a long-term investment in sport particularly in football.” Pamela said.

The awards gala is scheduled for the 14th of December, 2019, at a glamorous awards night to be held at the Commonwealth Speke Resort, Munyonyo.

There will also be recognition for the Team Fans of the year that will be chosen from all FUFA competitions that include the Uganda Premier League, Big league, FUFA Drum, Women football and the like.

A total of 14 categories will be voted for and awarded on the evening, with the Male Player of the year and the Female Player of the year awards the highlights of the evening.

For the fifth edition, FUFA have announced five new categories that will be voted for. These include Airtel-FUFA Best XI 2019 and Airtel-FUFA Women coach of the year for women football, to add on the male versions of the awards.

There is also a new FUFA Member Associations’ Award and the Best Squad of a particular year, and this will be inclusive of the club and national teams.
