The Uganda Cranes preparations for the return leg of the African Nations Championships play-off round qualifier against Burundi have continued into day three, with all the 25 summoned played taking part in today’s double training session.
The duo of Vipers midfielder Allan Kayiwa and Wakiso Giants utility player Krizestom Ntambi have linked up with the team non-residential training at the StarTimes stadium, Lugogo, after returning from national duty with the Cranes team that played in an international friendly against Ethiopia on Sunday.
Vipers young midfielder Abdul Karim Watambala who missed yesterday’s sessions with a slight knock also took part in training today.
Speaking after today’s training sessions, Cranes interim assistant coach Abdallah Mubiru again warned his players against complacence, because they may feel that the advantage they carry after the first leg cannot be overturned.
“The biggest concern we have is to fight against complacency, because players may think it’s a done deal having defeated our opponents 3-0 in the first leg,” Mubiru told the media.
“In football, anything can happen even in ten minutes. We need to manage the 90 minutes very well, because Burundi are not losing anything so they will come with a strategy to try attack so we have to be careful and be strategic during the game”. He added.
The Cranes will play Burundi at the StarTimes stadium on Saturday 19th October in the return leg. The winner of the encounter on aggregate will qualify for the final CHAN tournament that will be held in Cameroon early next year.
