The start times Uganda premier league returns with a rather low key but pretty exciting match up as newly-promoted side Kyetume FC play host to Police FC at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole on Tuesday evening.
Kyetume head into the tie with just one win in the three games they have played so far. the hosts announced themselves in the league with a statement victory over SC Villa in the opening game of the league.
But the slaughters have failed to replicate that performance since, failing to win in any of their next games, falling to Maroons 1-0, before they held URA FC in their last fixture, before the mini-break.
On the other hand, Police FC are yet to pick up maximum points in the league this season and seem to be haunted by the three points they were docked for failing to honour their opening day fixture.
The Cops have shown signs that they may not be as bad as their league position and form suggests, going by their performances against SC Villa and Mbarara City.
Police will be buoyed by the come back of head coach Abdallah Mubiru, after his time away with the national team. And now that the Cranes permanent head coach has been named, Mubiru can surely concentrate on his club side without distractions.
The other cause of tension in the game is the meeting between Abdallah Mubiru and George ‘best’ Nsimbe. The pair have previously worked together at KCCA and Vipers, and share by far the same football background.
Kyetume will surely look at the prowess of senior players like R. Sentongo and Vicente’s Kayizzi. But the pair are yet to be of influence to the side as Kyetume have scored just a single goal in their three fixtures.
Benon Tahomera in defence will have a great role to play especially against a troublesome Cops attack which includes Johnson Odong, Ben Ocen and Mubarak Nsubuga.
However, one player who will be of great importance in Mubiru’s set-up will be Samson Kigozi. The playmaker has been dominant in all the games they have played so far but is yet to completely fill the gap left by Juma Balinya. Both teams are not faced with any serious injuries.
