Preview: Mbarara City seek redemption as they visit Vipers

Mbarara City will be hoping to put an end to their three game winless run, when they visit Vipers SC at the St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, on Saturday, September 14th, in their StarTimes Uganda Premier League encounter.

The Ankole Lions have lost two of their previous three games against SC Villa and Express FC and played to a goalless stalemate against Police FC in the other one.

This left them with only one win in their opening four games. A 3-0 thumping of Proline FC on the opening day. They therefore enter Saturday’s game aiming at overcoming all odds by picking maximum points.

Vipers on the other hand,  returns to action after the international break where two of their would be fixtures against BUL FC and Onduparaka FC, were postponed due to four of their players being called up to the Cranes team.

The Venoms also aims at winning in order to maintain their perfect start to the league season. They won both of their two games played against Bright Stars and Tooro United.

When the two sides met in the Pilsner FUFA Super 8 semifinal they played to a one-all stalemate in normal time but Vipers went on to win 5-3 in penalties.

The two sides have met on four different occasions in the league with Vipers registering two wins while the other two ended in draws.

Mbarara City have never beaten Vipers in a competitive fixture hence they will be looking for their first ever victory over the Venoms despite their poor current form.
