The tournament shall be staged in the country for a fortnight kicking off from September 21st, to October 5th, 2019.
FUFA Technical Center in Njeru, Jinja, Star Times stadium, Lugogo and Pecce stadium in Gulu are the three proposed venues were the CECAFA U-20 games will be played.
It being a regional football event, the CECAFA Secretary General Nicholas Musonye arrived in the country on Thursday afternoon and he’ll lead the inspection team to Gulu on Friday.
Musonye and a team from FUFA will start inspection from Pecce stadium and hotels around Gulu town and the proposed training grounds in Gulu district.
As per reports, Gulu will be the host town of this year’s tournament given the fact that the Uganda Hippos the host team will camp in Gulu and they’ll play all their group stage games at Pecce stadium.
This tournament was meant for January, 2019 but it didn’t happen as planned due to finance constraints.
A total of twelve countries from the CECAFA region are expected to be involved in this event which last occurred eight years ago in 2011.
