Egyptian Cup: Micho 3-0 Desabre

When Zamalek and Pyramids met in the final of the Egyptian Cup, the rivalry wasn’t only on the pitch but also in the dugout. Both sides were coached by former Uganda Cranes tacticians who are new at their jobs.

Sebastien Desabre has just guided Pyramids to their first final while Zamalek under Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredejovic were the defending champions.

Zamalek came out victorious 3-0 at the final played at the Borg El Arab Stadium also winning their 27th title.

Desabre (L) and MIcho (R) met for the first time when Pyramids and Zamalek faced off in the Egyptian Cup final

After a barren first half, Youssef Obama gave Zamalek the lead when he was left with a simple tap in from a close range in the 51st minute.

The White Knights doubled their lead just ten minutes later, through Achraf Bencharki who headed Hamdy Nagguez’s accurate cross into the back of El-Shennawy’s net. Bencharki doubled his tally, scoring Zamalek’s third goal in the 83rd minute.

The Moroccan slotted the ball calmly to finish Mohamed Ounajem’s low cross to secure the title for Zamalek.
