Najjemba, Nalukenge make the headlines as Ayub Khalifah summons 30

New U-17 Head coach Ayub Khalifah has summoned 30 players as the U-17 women national team gets ready for the upcoming U-17 women COSAFA tournament in Mauritius.

Fauzia Najjemba and Juliet Nalukenge who were part of the Crested Canes team that travelled to Ethiopia to play at the 2020 Olympics qualifiers against Ethiopia will headline the summoned players.

Mukono High school Skipper, Fauzia Najjemba topped scoring charts at both the national secondary schools championships and the FEASSSA games with thirteen and nine goals respectively.

While Kawempe SS striker Juliet Nalukenge was one of the shining stars for her school as they won the national championships and the FEASSSA games in Arusha.

Midfielder Shakirah Nyinagahirwa, was voted as the most valuable player at the FEASSSA games and will be another exciting addition to the team.

The team is expected to start residential training on Sunday September, 8th at FUFA technical center in Njeru and they will travel for Mauritius on 15th September 2019.

The team will play two build-up matches on Wednesday 11th and Sunday 15th September before traveling to Mauritius.

According to the tournament’s regulations, players that qualify to participate in the championship must be 16 years and below (born on 1st January 2003 and below).

Uganda who are the guests in the U-17 women COSAFA tournament were drawn in group A and will play their first game against Zambia, their second against hosts Mauritius and Syechelles on 20th, 24th and 25th respectively.

Defenders: Akalinda Gilian (Olila High School), Kabarwani Cissy (King of Kings), Lwetuso Regina (Taggy High School), Abba Immaculate (Gadafi Integrated), Atwiine Precious (Upper Hill College), and Namuddu Aisha (Sheema Girls).

Midfielders: Nakacwa Kevin (Uganda Martrys), Nakacwa Samali (Kawempe Muslim SS), Nyinagahirwa Shakira (Kawempe Muslim SS), Kunuhira Margret (Kawempe Muslim SS), Nyakato Ruth (King of Kings), Babirye Sarah (Kayindu SS), Abiyo Racheal (Olila High School), and Komuntale Sumayah (King of Kings) Moureen Nangonzi ( Mukono high/ Ajax Queens).

Forwards: Nalukenge Juliet (Kawempe Muslim SS), Najjemba Fauzia (Mukono High), Nakiyingi Sophie (Gadafi Integrated), Nagadya Catherine (Katuuso Community SS), Nandede Zainah (Amus College), Namaganda Zaitun (Taggy High School), Nadunga Bira (Olila High School), Nandago Hadijah (Kawempe Muslim SS), Chandia Lillian (Alele SS) and Adokole Esther (Amus College).
