Total CAF Champions League

KCCA FC unites Lukwago and Mao as latter converts to yellow

When everyone was celebrating Allan Okello’s 88th strike against African Stars in the second leg of the 2019/2020 Total CAF Champions League on Friday, political warlords were merrymaking.

Democratic Party head Norbert Mao and Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago couldn’t help but hug, smile and chest pump.

Despite affiliating to the same political party, the two don’t see eye to eye since the Democratic Party Delegates conference in 2010.

But as goals by Okello and Mustafa Kizza had just guided KCCA FC past African Stars in the 2-0 win and saw the Lugogo side advance to the next round 4-3 on aggregate, the process won over a new fan.

Little is known about Mao’s relationship and the game of football but after watching just 20 minutes of the nail biting encounter, declining the KCCA FC yellow jersey wasn’t an option.

Mao, who politically affiliates to colour green can gladly associate with yellow on sporting terms.

KCCA FC CEO Anisha Muhoozi together with Lukwago presented Mao with the Jersey that was also later accompanied with a club cap.

Mao was too excited that he openly asked the Lord Mayor where the after party was as he promised to watch more KCCA FC games.

Mao is a keen fan of Acholi Province in the FUFA Drum and on a few occasions also shows up for Cranes encounters but this must be along time he has been seen around a club football encounter.
