CAF CL: Okello, Kizza masterstrokes see KCCA FC past African Stars

Allan Okello and Mustafa Kizza are two KCCA FC players yet who have divided opinions in the Ugandan football fraternity, especially in the transfer window.

While many thought the players had come of age and should be playing elsewhere and not Uganda, the club thinks otherwise.

But that has barely affected their performance for KCCA FC especially in important games.

The 2019/2020 Total CAF Champions League return leg against African Stars was one the two proved their importance to the club.

KCCA FC defeated African Stars 2-0 on Friday at StarTimes Stadium Lugogo, in the preliminary round, they eventually went through 4-3 on aggregate.

African Stars came to Lugogo with a strategy, frustrate KCCA FC and defend the score, they tripped teamed Okello all through.

KCCA FC got into panic mode, when they succumbed, Charles Lukwago stood tall and kept them in this game.

Ten minutes to full time, Mike Mutyaba was fouled at the edge of the area, him Muzamir Mutyaba and Kizza took charge.

They decided Kizza should take charge and he did it in style, curled the ball through the wall into the back of the net.

That came with relief around the stadium, the Lord Mayor Erias Luwago and Democratic Party head Norbert Mao couldn’t help it but hug in jubilation.

Disappointed faces in the African Stars camp were very visible, but KCCA FC were not done yet.

Mike Mutyaba found Okello, who was in yards of space and he made no mistake shooting past Tjimune Vipua in African Stars goal.

At the sound of the final whistle, the mentions were mixed, but what mattered most for the majority, KCCA FC were through to the next round where they’ll face either Petro Luanda (Angola) or Matlama (Lesotho).
