Kawempe Muslim, Mukono High through to semis

Mukono High School and Kawempe Muslim confirmed their slots in the semi-finals of the East African Secondary School Games in Arusha Tanzania.

Mukono High confirmed their semi-final slot after St Noa lost 1-0 to Bishop Njenga of Kenya on Wednesday morning.

St Noa’s chances of coming as second in group A were totally over after Nyakach of Kenya defeated Kihesa which sent Nyakach second in group A with nine points same as Mukono high school with the goal difference separating both sides.

In Group B, 2014 champion Kawempe Muslim lost 1-0 to Kenya’s Itigo, their first loss at the tournament in four games.

The loss changed nothing on the side of Kawempe Muslim but gave Itigo a chance to qualify for the semi-finals as second with eight points while Kawempe finished first in the same group with nine points from four games.

Kawempe Muslim will face Kenyan champion Nyakach while Mukono High will take on Itigo from Kenya.

Mukono High School and Kawempe Muslim will be playing in the semi-finals of the East African Secondary School Games for the third consecutive time.

Kawempe have made it to the finals in the last two years while Mukono High have failed to go past the semi-finals in the last two years.

All the girls’ football semi-finals will be played on Thursday 22 August 2019 at Constantine in Arusha.
