Gor Mahia new coach Steven Pollack believes his side will only get better after bagging the KPL Super Cup on Sunday, their first 2019/20 trophy.

K’Ogalo downed Mombasa based Kenyan Premier League side, Bandari FC 1-0 on Sunday at Kenyan Stadium in Machakos to bag the season’s curtain-raiser trophy.

Lawrence Juma scored the lone goal of the game before Gor’s new signing Tobias Otieno was sent off midway through the second half.

The trophy was Pollack’s first at the helm of Gor Mahia since he took over from Hassan Oktay a fortnight ago and the Englishman believes his side can only get better once the players understand and embrace his philosophy.

“Definitely I am happy with the result because we have our first trophy of the season, I am also happy with the attitude of my players especially after we went down to 10 men in the second half,” Pollack said after the match.

“I know the team will keep getting better and I want the players to understand my philosophy going forward, it is something we are working on already and we must get it right starting our next match.

“We were much better in the second half and it was also good for my players to play with the ball most of the time,” he added.

Gor Mahia’s next assignment will a Caf Champions League first-round return leg match against Burundian side, Aigle Noir CS over the weekend.
