Former Uganda Cranes coach Sébastien Desabre, Abdu Lumala got the perfect continental start as Egyptian outfit Pyramids registered a commanding 4-1 win over Etoile du Congo in 2019/2020 Total CAF Confederation Cup on Saturday, August 10th at the June 30th Stadium.

Much as Cranes international Lumala didn’t make the matchday squad though he is one the registered players for the competition, Pyramids led 3-0 in the first 33 minutes of the game.

On his debut, John Antwi gave Pyramids the lead inside 19 minutes, this was after a series of fruitless attacks, three minutes later Eric Traore doubled the lead off an Islam Eissa’s pass.

Antwi completed a brace of headers in the 33 minutes off a well-weighted cross from Ragab Bakar before Yan Mukumbu got one back for the visitors.

Pyramids’ dominance was so visible throughout the game that it was inevitable they would get a fourth, Ahmed Ali was fouled in the area and it was him who made it 4-1 from 12 yards.

August 24 is the date set for the return leg, with Pyramids seemingly having one foot into the first qualifying round if they can protect their lead in Congo Brazzaville.
