ARS 2019: She Kataka, Busia Trust, Olila High, Lifeline, Academy triumph

It was She Kataka from Mbale and Busia Trust from the Eastern Region together with Echoes and Olila High School from North East who came out on top in the Airtel Rising Stars U17 regional qualifiers played at Soroti Main Grounds.

Busia Trust SS held their nerves through a barren draw to defeat True Devine Academy 6-5 on penalties.

She Kataka then successfully defended their title after they defeated Town View Bugiri 5-3 also on penalties after a goalless draw in normal time.

Beatrice Adukule, Catherine Namataka, Zabinah Namboozo, Halima Nambafu, Esther Nabonyo all scored for She Kataka.

It was Halima Babirye, Shakira Nakasango, Rashida Nanangu who was on target for Town View, Bugiri, Eunice Namusubo missed her effort.

The North East girls final is another that couldn’t find a winner in normal time, Olila High School dethroned Echoes 3-1 on penalties after both teams had settled for a one-all draw in normal time.

Siprosa “Falcao” Amoding gave Olila the lead before Oliver Eromu equalised for Echoes as both teams tried to finish the job in normal time, but it wasn’t the case.

Olila scored the spot-kicks through Amoding, Cecilia Apiding, Eunice Ariokot with Sharon Achan missing hers. Lydia Ayango, Irene Martha Ajuro, Irene Adongo all missed their kicks for Echoes

Unfortunately, Olila High School couldn’t do a double as they lost the boys final 1-0 to Lifeline Academy from Bukedea, it was Michael Keddi’s lone strike that separated both teams.

The four winners qualify for the final tournament, joining Kawempe Muslim who won both the boys and girls titles in Kampala Region.

They will be joined by Rays of Grace and Kayindu SS who won the boys and girls titles in Buganda region respectively. The game head to Lira in seven days’ time for the North and West Nile regional qualifiers.
