Three stadiums; Betway Muteesa II Stadium, Mandela National Stadium and Luzira Prisons Grounds will host nine teams ahead of the 2019/2020 Uganda Premier League season.
This is the latest development as all 16 teams in the league were granted club licences by the FUFA Licencing Board and venues approved.
Express, Bright Stars and Tooro United will play their games at the Betway Muteesa II Stadium.
Onduparaka, Maroons and Mbarara City will play their home games in Luzira, URA, SC Villa and Kyetume will play their home games at Mandela National Stadium Namboole.
This comes at a time when the Uganda Premier League Secretariat has always been against having more than two teams at the same venue.
“Having more than two teams on the same venue disorganises the flow of the fixture but we are between a hard place and a rock,” a source told www.football-256.com as we failed to get in touch with the league CEO Bernard Bainamani.
“The fact is teams can’t find grounds that meet the bare minimum standards required by FUFA,” the source added.
League holders KCCA FC and the FUFA Big League champions Proline FC will play their games from their traditional venue, the StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo.
Police who hosted their games at Lugogo last season have moved to Kabaka Kyabagu Stadium in Wakiso, a ground they will share with Wakiso Giants.
BUL FC will continue playing games at the FUFA technical Centre in Njeru, they will be joined by former Kirinya Jinja SSS now Busoga United who as moving from the Mighty Arena in Jinja.
Only Vipers Sports Club will not share a venue at their St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.
