Allan Okello and Sadat Anaku handed KCCA FC a well deserved 2-0 win over Wakiso Giants in the Pilsner Super 8 played on Tuesday afternoon at Wakissha Resource Center in Wakiso.
A highly anticipated fixture began on a low with lack of action within the opening 20miniutes as both sides couldn’t find the cutting edge at each other’s goal.
But with half an hour in, KCCA threatened first for an opener when Ibrahim Saddam Juma’s attempt in the top corner was beautifully reflexed by Wakiso Giants’ custodian Yasin Mugabi for a corner.
The game started to open up as KCCA FC continued to search for an opener but Mugabi was still up to the challenge when he stopped Nicholas Kasozi from scoring.
In the 37th minute an Okello initiated a move from his own half had Mike Mutyaba join in, the latter released the teenager who didn’t make any mistake with Yasin Mugabi at his mercy. KCCA led 1-0.
At the restart, the home side seemed high on confidence, dominating play as they pushed for an equalizer.
KCCA’s grip on the game loosened as Wakiso Giants’ momentum grew but still the purple Sharks couldn’t hook up scoring opportunities.
Twenty minutes were left on the clock and a bright day turned rainy but the home side continued pushing for an equaliser but all in vain.
Deep into stoppage time Anaku put the game beyond Wakiso’s reach, a long ball from Mustafa Kizza found Patrick Kaddu who picked Anaku.
The number 27 rounded off Mugabi before slotting home in an empty net with his right.
The result booked KCCA FC a date with Onduparaka FC who defeated Tooro United 4-3 on penalties after the goalless draw.
