Tabu Vitalis was one of Onduparaka’s four successful penalty takers as the West Nile side won against Tooro United in the Pilsner Super 8 on Sunday, August 4th, 2019 at the Greenlight Stadium in Arua.
Onduparaka defeated Tooro United 4-3 on penalties after the barren draw, to advance to the semi-final of the competition.
The left-footed winger emerged the Pilsner man of the match, a recognition some section of analysts and football fanatics disagreed with, but the opinion is taken positively by the former URA lad.
“I prefer to be criticized other than hyped because it motivates me to work harder,” Tabu told www.football-256.com.
“When people talk ill about me, I get the inspiration to do things so that I help them eat their words,” he added.
Questions could be raised about the lethality of the attackers the Caterpillars have but Tabu opines that there is no need to worry as playing goalless for 90 minutes is normal.
“I had a sense that we were not well prepared for this particular game but again it’s normal to play goalless.”
“I believe with excellent preparation, the goals will come. That doesn’t take away the fact that we are ready for the new season,” he added.
The former SC Villa man also appreciated the efforts of the team and singled out the performance of academy graduate Salim Abdullah who started the game in a playmaker position before he was substituted in the second half.
“I am so grateful to Abdallah for his performance. Before the game, I told him Tooro isn’t a small team and advised him to take the opportunity to announce himself to the world on this stage.”
Tabu and company are supposed to face either KCCA or Wakiso giants in the next phase of the competition, they won’t know their opponent until Tuesday, August 6th, 2019.
