FUFA Introduces Women Super Cup

The 2019/20 season of the FUFA women Elite League will kick off with the first-ever women super cup since 2015.

League champions UCU Lady Cardinals will be playing Women Cup winners Makerere in the first week of September but there will be the third-place playoff from last between Kawempe Muslim and Kampala Queens.

This was agreed upon in a FUFA Women Elite League club’s CEO’s meeting chaired by the competition director Aisha Nalule on Thursday 25 July 2019 at FUFA House in Mengo.

“The league has grown since the first season in 2015 and we are looking now to professionalising the league,” the competition director said in the start of the meeting.

On the same day, elite clubs were regrouped again, defending champion UCU Lady Cardinals again was separated from four-time champions kawempe Muslim and will not be playing each other in the regular season for the third consecutive season.

The 2019/20 season is slated to start in the second week of September after the FUFA Women Super cup.
