Uganda Cranes and KCCA FC midfielder Allan Okello is talking of hard work, concentration and efficiency if they are to get a positive result from their Total 2020 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifying game against Somalia.
Okello was speaking after Uganda Cranes’ first training session in Djibouti where they are going to lock horns with Somalia in the first leg of the tie on Saturday July 27th.
“We need to do our best, work hard, concentrate, be efficient enough and we need to win this game so that we get close to qualifying for the final tournament,” Okello said.
The Abdallah Mubiru coached side is expected to rely much on the teenager’s services as far as creating and scoring goals is concerned, the latter is one of Cranes’ major problems.
It should be noted that Cranes managed to score only once in their three practice matches, and this came in their 1-0 win over URA FC.
In the other two, they lost 1-0 against a Kitara Select side in Hoima before settling for a goalless stalemate with Proline FC on Wednesday in Lugogo.
Okello who was instrumental in KCCA’s CECAFA Kagame Cup victory in Rwanda is expected to lead the task of hunting for goals and he is ready to swap his ability towards Somalia’s game.
“It was a great tournament (CECAFA), we managed to win it, the experience was great, but that job is done and now our focus is on helping Uganda reach the CHAN finals,” he noted.
The winner between Uganda and Somalia will face either South Sudan or Burundi in the last qualifying round.
