Erisa Ssekisambu and Hashim Ssempala featured for Gor Mahia as they suffered a shocking 1-0 defeat at the hands of Nzoia Sugar in a Kenyan Premier League match played on Wednesday afternoon at Mumias Sports Complex.

Gor rested a number of key players ahead of Sunday’s Mashemeji Derby against AFC Leopards and it proved costly as they fell to the Bungoma based Millers.

Francis Kahata, Kenneth Muguna, Joash Onyango, Harun Shakava and Philemon Otieno all missed the game while Jacques Tuyisenge came off the bench but he couldn’t steer the team to a win.

A Hansel Ochieng 34th minute strike settled the match in which the hosts largely dominated and even had a second goal disallowed.

Ssekisambu and Sempala both featured for 90 minutes and are likely to sit out of the Derby with regulars expected to return to the starting team.

Elsewhere, AFC Leopards equally suffered a 1-0 defeat at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos. Kennedy Owino scored the all-important goal for the Bankers to complete a season’s double over Ingwe. Ivan Sekazza wasn’t included in match day squad.
