FBL: Wakiso Giants give back to the Jinja Community

Wakiso Giants might still be celebrating their promotion to the 2019/2020 StarTimes Uganda Premier League for the first time ever but the Jinja community is also not regretting their presence.

The Purple Sharks left a permanent mark on the lives of many in Bugembe the village that accommodates the Kyabaziga Stadium where they have been playing their home games

In a CSR drive, Wakiso Giants called upon the general public join hands with them and donate all they have for the Bugembe community, and their cries reached far and wide.

Everything they got, mainly clothes was donated to the Heart for People Foundation Uganda an none government organization based in Bugembe.

“I thank you all for supporting the game of football, thank you very much because football brings different people together,” the foundation patron Carol Blick said after.

“I thank Wakiso Giants for the support, I encourage everyone to extend support to the unprivileged people, you can help anyone with the little you can,” she added.

Wakiso Giants staunch fan and celebrated Musician Eddy Kenzo also thanked the people of Jinja for the unconditional support throughout the entire season which enabled them acquire promotion to top flight.

“I thank the people of Jinja for unconditional support, thank you very much we are very happy for you. I encourage you to continue with that support, the team is now in the league, so we need your support,” a jubilant Kenzo said.

Wakiso went ahead to donate equipment to a local soccer academy who have been serving as ball boys on all their home games. The club also promised to recruit the youngsters into its junior team next season.

A Busoga Province which represents the region in the FUFA Drum competition weren’t left out, they received jerseys and training equipment’s to help them in their quest for this year’s title.

Jinja fans in appreciation promised to extend their support to Wakiso Giants although it’s set to change venue to Wakisha Grounds in Wakiso ahead of next season.
