FBL: Kirya appreciates players, fans for the effort

After officially becoming the first team to earn promotion to the 2019/2020 StarTimes Uganda Premier League from FUFA Big League everyone at Wakiso Giants Football Club is over the moon.

Especially head coach Ibrahim Kirya whose task on getting the appointment was very clear, bring the team to the top flight.

Norman Ogik and Ivan Kiweewa grabbed historical strikes which guided Wakiso Giants to a 2-1 victory against Entebbe FC and ultimately guided them to the top tier league promotion at Kyabazinga stadium on Thursday.

“I thank my players who put in a lot of effort to make it happen,” a thrilled Kirya told before adding.

“In the beginning, many people undermined my players but at the end they proved so many doubters wrong and emerged victors.”

“I thank Wakiso Giants fans all over the country for the unconditional support up to this stage, we now in Uganda Premier League 2019/2020 season I am just happy for what has happened,” he added.

The promotion means that Wakiso Giants have been promoted to the top tier on their first attempt after just one year of existence.

Although they were in the second division, Wakiso Giants was one of the most organized Ugandan teams ranging from facilitations up to the communication.

They were denied rights of playing home games at their Wakisha Grounds home and sent to Kyabazinga Stadium in Bugembe where they were unbeaten.
