The Uganda national Under 17 football camp was hit by a setback when thieves broke into the team’s hotel rooms at Peacock Hotel and went away with valuable items according to reports from

The thieves went away with valuables specifically from the rooms of the team’s manager Bashir Mutyaba and the media officer Omaria Bosco.

“They broke into our rooms while we went out for Breakfast, the team manager and myself lost valuables to the thieves,” Omario was quoted by the West African website.

“We have reported the matter to the powers that be and we are hoping they find a way to help us recover the items,” he added. Omario lost his camera, laptop and hard drives amongst other items.

The Cubs are trying to qualify for the semifinals of the 2019 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations as well as booking a slot at the forthcoming 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup held in Brazil later this year.

They will lock horns with Nigeria in their last game of group A on Saturday in the game which Uganda need maximum points if they are to make a World Cup qualification a dream a reality.
