Express FC striker Brian Umony has it in mind that confidence and belief can lead his side to the 2018/2019 Stanbic Uganda Cup victory which will be the 11th in the history of the club and a record.
The 31-year-old scored the all-important strike in the quarterfinal against BUL at the Betway Mutessa II Stadium, Wankulukuku to help the Red Eagles qualify for the semifinals of this year’s tournament.
“It’s always a confidence booster it feels nice but I should say this is not all about me it’s about the boys,” Umony told the official club website.
“Since I came here I have spoken to some of the boys, you know before talent we have to have belief in ourselves that we can win any game at a particular level.”
“This is another opportunity for the boys to showcase what they can do, they are a talented lot and it’s all about belief and confidence that we can win the next games and we are there,” he added.
Express are yet to know their quarter final opponent but will be drawn against either FUFA Big League sides Kyetume FC and Proline together with StarTimes Uganda Premier counterparts Bright Stars.
Express are joint record champions of Uganda Cup on ten titles with KCCA FC, the last time they won it was in 2007, coached by Sam Ssimbwa at the time.
Victory will be a big boost to club and head coach George Ssemwogerere in their quest to return the glory days at Wankulukuku.
