It’s on very few occasions that an award is given out and you don’t get so many murmurs, especially in Uganda.

But this was the case on Monday evening at Torino bar and Restaurant as the Uganda Premier League and Pilsner Lager awarded the player and coach of the months of January and February joined as one.

It was Tooro United’s Wasswa Bossa and Onduparaka skipper Rashid Toha who scooped the Pilsner coach and player of those months respectively.

Recognitions that came with a plaque and Shs1M for each after stellar displays that had Bossa see his club through eight league games winning four, drawing three and losing just one.

It was Bossa’s first recognition as a coach anywhere and his acceptance speech told it all.

“It’s good to have we coaches being recognised, on many occasions its players who get recognised for their efforts and the coaches are neglected, but I am humbled for this recognition,” Bossa told

Tooro United’s only defeat in that period was against Ndejje Lions (4-3) in Luwero and drew against Bright Stars (0-0), Vipers (1-1) and Kirinya Jinja SSS (1-1).

They defeated Paidha Black Angels (1-0), Express (1-0), Ndejje Lions (1-0), Bright Stars (2-0) and Ndejje Lions (1-0). Bossa beat Vipers’ Michael Nam Ouma to this award.

Toha was involved in all Onduparaka’s games in the period scooping two men of the match awards when his side faced URA and Mbarara City.

The towering defender also scored twice as his side defeated Mbarara City 2-1 and in the one all draw against Bright Stars in Mwererwe.

Toha beat URA’s skipper Shafik Kagium and KCCA FC midfielder Nicholas Kasozi to the award that also came with a plaque and Shs1M

Toha is the current leading score of his side with six goals in the league but currently nursing a minor knee injury.
