Vipers Sports Club return to winning ways in style with a crucial 3-0 home win against Bright Stars at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende on Friday evening.
A win means that the Venoms who now have 41 points have closed the gap between them and table leaders KCCA to four points, the latter lost two points to Police FC yesterday.
Vipers were hungry and the motivation to play for all three points was very visible in a team that didn’t have Moses Waiswa and Daniel Muzeyi Sserunkuma.
In the sixth minute a well-built move that involved Tito Okello and Innocent Wafula was tapped home by Steven Mukwala.
The goal seemed not enough for the home team and it was indeed not enough, they kept on asking Bright Stars’ defence and goalkeeper questions with continuous attempts.
This finally yielded something for the Venoms as a well-positioned Tito Okello headed home the second from a Tom Masiko’s free-kick just three minutes into the second half.
In the 73rd minute, Halid Lwaliwa sealed all three points for home, he headed home a well delivered free kick again from Tom Masiko to give home fans something to jubilate for.
A win marked an end to Vipers’ two league match winless streak and stretched their unbeaten run against Bright Stars to 12 games.
Vipers maintained their second position with 41 points, while Bright Stars dropped to 10th with 24 points from 20 outings.
In the next fixture, Vipers will visit Onduparaka at Green light Stadium in Arua next Tuesday, while Bright Stars will entertain Tooro United at Champions Stadium Mwererwe on Wednesday.
