Express hope to fly past persistent Tooro United

Six time StarTimes Uganda Premier League winners Express FC made the biggest transfer headlines in the January transfer market when they announced the capture of prolific striker Brian Umony and midfielder Tumwesigye ‘Zaga’ Frank.

With the second round of the league starting on Tuesday, the Wankulukuku based side will hope to have a smoother ride than the one they had in the first round.

In 15 games, Express won just five, drew six and lost four scoring 17 times which prompted Kisala to demand that his bosses get him a top striker, they got him Umony.

Kisaala will be hoping his striking line led by the former KCCA FC striker along with Eric Kambale and Tony Odur will put Tooro United to the sword.

“He will get some minutes in that game because he has not been playing league football for a while, we are monitoring his fitness levels, he will either start or just come on as a sub,” Kisala said referring to Umony.

For Umony, the intention is to pick a win even though it won’t be easy especially if Tooro’s home record is anything to go with.

“It won’t be an easy game, I have worked extremely hard along with the lads and I believe we are all ready for the game on Tuesday” Umony is quoted by the club website.

The hosts are in a buoyant mood having eliminated KCCA FC from the Stanbic Uganda Cup in their last outing, they are 10th and a point behind Express. A win for either sides will push them to the top four.

Elsewhere, Police host struggling Nyamityobora FC at the StarTimes stadium Lugogo, Abdallah Mubiru’s side are eighth and will hope to better their defense having conceded more goals (26) than they’ve scored (24).

Fourteenth placed Nyamityobora are winless in their last five outings in all competitions with their last victory coming at home against Ndejje Lions on December 14th last year.
