Could it be Mbabazi or Ssenyondo for Mbarara city job?

Twenty-one days ago, Uganda Premier league side Mbarara City made their choice on who would take the club forward.

Paul Nkata was confirmed head coach, agreeing to terms on a one-year renewable contract, as the club sought to reach the flourishes of last season.

It did not take long for the club to realise that perhaps Nkata was never the right man for the job, as he was sacked yesterday together with his assistants following a series of dismal performances.

Mbarara City were sensationally defeated 3-0 by BUL FC in Jinja on Saturday, as they failed to win in their sixth consecutive game under Nkata. The 2-1 win in his debut game remains the only victory the club picked up under the former SC Villa, URA and Tusker coach.

With Nkata gone, the biggest question remains what next?

A couple of names have already sprung up. And surprisingly or not former interim coach Brian Ssenyondo has been tipped to make a sensational return to the club.

Ssenyondo took over coaching reigns at the club at the start of the season, before he was sacked and sarcastically given the role of Junior team coach, and replaced by Nkata.

According to Kawowo Sports, Ssenyondo has sensationally made a come back at the club and is reportedly taking charge of the club’s preparations ahead of the Onduparaka match on Tuesday.

“He is back and even preparing to conduct morning training ahead of the visit of Onduparaka,” a source was quoted by a local publication.

Another name which has clearly been making rounds at Kakyeka is former boss Livingstone Mbabazi, now at Onduparaka.

Mbabazi resigned from his role at the tail end of last season, over what he termed as disrespect from the fans after he had guided the club to their best ever finish in the UPL.

According to the Sports Nation, Mbabazi has already met club president Hon. Mwiine Mpaka and discussed the possibility of making a come back to the club.

Sports Nation also holds that a deal has been struck, and Mbabazi is set to be announced as new head coach soon. Mbabazi has soon decried the financial struggles at Onduparaka and it is understood to be the catalyst for the coach to cross from Arua to Mbarara.

Sources also intimate that former Tooro United coach Wasswa Bbosa has been reached for the vacant job. Wasswa remains jobless since he left Tooro United last month.

Mbarara City currently lies 13th on the log, with 10 points from 12 games, and host fourth placed Onduparaka on Tuesday.
