Fred Kajoba returns as a goalkeeping coach for the Uganda Cranes friendly game against Ethiopia | FUFA media

International Friendly: Ethiopia Vs Uganda Cranes, Sunday, 13th October 2019, Bahrdar Town

In a surprise turn of events, the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has confirmed former Uganda Cranes goalkeeping coach Fred Kajoba part of the Cranes travelling contingent for the friendly game against Ethiopia.

The game is scheduled to be played in Ethiopia, Bahrdar city on Sunday 13th, October 2019.

Kajoba was sacked from the Cranes goalkeeping duty in July this year, as the entire Cranes technical team was disbanded after the African Cup of nations tournament in Egypt, this year.

Since Sadiq Wassa has been the acting goalkeeping coach for the Cranes since, as a permanent coach is yet to be named.

Additionally, Abdallah Mubiru who has previously worked as the interim head coach before being replaced by current head coach Jonathan McKinstry last week, has been dropped from the travelling technical team.

McKinstry has already made it clear that he would wish to work with the technical team that have been working on the interim, with the Irishman already stating that the same team will see through the CHAN qualification campaign.

McKinstry will however be assisted by Onduparaka head coach Charles Livingstone Mbabazi for the friendly.

The team will have another addition, with Alex McCarthy joining the team as a fitness trainer and technical analyst. McCarthy has previously worked as assistant coach with McKinstry at Bangladesh side Saif Sporting Club.

The initial team had only foreign based players summoned, but two players, Vipers’ midfielder Allan Kayiwa and Wakiso Giants versatile player Kirizestom Ntambi, both locally based have been added to the traveling team.

They replace Khalid Aucho and Mike Azira who have pulled out of the squad.
