Algeria midfielder Sofiane Feghouli says his side will be keen on winning their first match against Kenya at the 2019 African Cup of Nations.
The North Africans will play Kenya in their opening match of the competition on Sunday 23rd July at the 30 June Stadium, Cairo.
Algeria will then play fellow title favorites Senegal before ending their group assignments with a match against Tanzania.
The Galatasaray midfielder understands the importance of starting the tournament strongly and he says his side has to beat Kenya in their opening encounter.
“I am convinced we are ready. The first match of the group is always important to win to start the competition,” he told Algeria FA website.
The creative midfielder further added that his side will be out to win the trophy and that they are not afraid of any side in the tournament.
“In any case, we will take the games one after the other. We do not fear people, we are serious about returning to the country with the Cup,” he added.
Algeria are searching for the second African title, their first since 1990, a tournament they won on home soil after they defeated Nigeria 1-0 in the final.
