AFCON U17: Guinea too strong for Senegal

Senegal’s chances of making it to the semifinals of the 2019 Total U17 Africa Cup of Nations and the FIFA U-17 World Cup are paralysed following their 2-1 loss to Guinea at Chamazi Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Samba Diallo gave Senegal the lead inside 10 minutes of the game but strikes from Algassime Bah and Momo Fanye Toure in the 33rd and 80th minutes of the game guided Guinea to a dramatic 2-1 comeback win on Thursday evening.

Both sides completed the game with ten men, Guinea’s Alya Bangoura was given matching orders two minutes into the second stanza before Cameroon’s Birame Diaw was sent off in the 66th minute.

Guinea who are now second on the group B table on four points need to win their last group game against Morocco to confirm their slot in the semifinals and the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup

Senegal’s tournament is not over yet, they need to win their last group game against table leaders Cameroon for them to advance but also pray that Guinea and Morocco play to any sort of draw in their encounter.
