Wakiso Giants buoyant ahead of Kyetume date | Stanbic Uganda Cup

One fact about the 2019 Stanbic Uganda Cup is that a team from the StarTimes FUFA Big League will reach the semi-finals, although there high chances that it could be more than one.

The fixture many will be looking out for will involve Kyetume FC and Wakiso Giants in Mukono, the first meeting there in the league ended one all.

Wakiso Giants coach Ibrahim Kirya is in buoyant mood ahead of the tie that will come days to their second league meeting on March 21st in Jinja.

“When we visited them in the league it was tough, it’s one of the hardest places to win a game but we are confident of beating anyone,” Kirya told www.football-256.com, he added.

“Like I have always said about this competition, we want to go as far as possible in this competition but we approach every game with no pressure.”

“Winning the game will give us a psychological boost before we host them in the league again,” Kirya added.

Wakiso Giants is on top of the Elgon Group of the FUFA Big League while Kyetume is second as the two quest for promotion to Uganda’s top flight league next season.

“It’s not a fixture we really want to win, we shall give our best but not disappointed if we don’t get to advance,” Kyetume’s head coach Jackson Mayanja told this website.

“The target is to try and qualify for the premier league, that’s where we are putting all the focus and emphasis, and the Uganda Cup tie is supposed to prepare us for our big league targets,” Mayanja added.

Elsewhere, 2016 champions Vipers SC will visit another Big League side Proline at StarTimes Stadium Lugogo.

Express entertain BUL FC at Betway Muteesa II Stadium Wankulukuku while Nebbi Central will host Fred Kajoba’s Bright Stars.

The games will be played from 9th to 12th March, 2019, the winners will progress to Semi-finals of the second most prestigious tournament in Uganda.
