Vipers turn to little known Ouma after axing Espinoza

Like the saying goes, desperate times call for desperate measures, StarTimes Uganda Premier League holders Vipers SC have hired little known Michael Nam Ouma as head coach on interim basis.

This was revealed by the club on their official website, www.viperssc.ug a day after they fired Mexican Javier Martinez Espinoza.

“The team includes a new face of Kenyan born Micheal Ouma as the head coach assisted by Oloya Moses as goal keeping coach, Edward Ssali as trainer with Ram Nyakana as strength and endurance coach,” part of the statement read

“A fifth member of the technical bench will be named by the club administration sooner than later once all documentation is finalised,” the statement added.

Not much is known about Nam Ouma apart from him working with Posta Rangers, FC Talanta and two defunct clubs Agro Chemicals and Karuturi Sports, all in Kenya.

The CAF A licences holder has been out of active football coaching for sometime after spending sometime coaching Lowe division clubs in Kenya.

The closest he had ever gotten to coaching a top club was in 2016 when Kenyan giants Gor Mahia wanted to sign him but the fans were up in arms and the club management dropped the idea.

The former Kenya U17 coach was also essential as Vipers signed midfielder Noah Wafula at the start of the 2018/2019 season.

Nam Ouma and his new technical team  commenced work on Sunday evening with a training session in preparation for Vipers next league game against URA FC at Namboole on the 2nd January 2019.

Coach Micheal Ouma promised more team cohesion and creativity going forward in his initial address to the club players.
